Present Workspace
The Present workspace is made up of the slide canvas, Content panel, Preview panel, and Present ribbons. On the right side, the Slicers panel and Targets panel can also be opened simply by clicking on them.
Panels
Several panels are located on both the right and left of the canvas.
Content
The Content panel (blue arrow above) displays the content folder tree, along with your favorites and recent lists. The folders here expose the saved content items to which you have access. Navigate through the content panel to find the content items that you want to add to the presentation.
Data discovery items can be expanded to expose addition visual items within them, like legends or slicers. Drag the required content items onto the canvas.
Used Content
The Used Content panel (yellow arrow) displays a list of content items appearing in the presentation at the time it was last saved.
Slicers
The Slicers panel (red highlight) displays hidden slicers and slicers located on a slide that is not currently being viewed. You can access the Advanced Slicer Wizard by clicking the + icon from the Slicers pane.
Targets
The Targets panel (white arrow) displays any target interactions that have been configured. Target interactions are used to configure Cross-Visual Interactions between data discoveries that are located on different slides.
Slides
The Slides panel, located on the right of the canvas (green highlight), is where you can add, remove, duplicate and rename slides. You can also add sections, and use the slides panel to navigate through the presentation while in edit mode.
Formatting
The Formatting panel (orange highlight) allows you to make formatting changes for selected unlinked content.

Canvas
The canvas, located in the middle of the workspace, is where you build and design your presentation. Content items, text, images, slicers, and shapes are added to the canvas, where they can be re-sized and formatted as required.
The canvas displays the slide that is currently selected from the Slides panel. It also features navigation icons that cannot be edited; these icons enable you to navigate through the presentation once it is launched in runtime.
Right click on a visual to:
- Open it in Discover
- Set scale modes
- Edit the panel settings
- Access clipboard functions
- Bring the visual forward or back
Metadata Panel
In edit mode, each content item displays an information icon; hover over the icon to see the item's metadata panel.
The information panel of a data discovery displays:
Measures: displays the measures in the query.
Filters: any filters added to the query.
Statistics: displays the number of columns, rows, and cells in the query.
Metadata: displays the server name, database name, model name, and model description.
Report Metadata: the location of the content item in the CMS, the date the item was created, and the user who create it.
Note that the information panel of a slicer will only open after the presentation in which it resides has been saved.
Dynamic assets will also display an information panel:
Reset Workspace
If you've moved any of the workspace panels around, or minimized them, you can reset them by clicking Reset Workspace (green highlight below). This will return the workspace to its default layout.
